Car rental location Escanaba Airport

Location information for Escanaba Airport

Escanaba Delta County Airport, (not to be confused with the gravel airstrip at Escanaba Township), is situated three kilometers to the northwest of the city of Escanaba in Delta County, Michigan. Its limited and therefore non- commercially viable operations are subsidized by a government program covering essential air services.

The airport only serves one destination, Detroit, with the route provided by Delta Connection and operated by Mesaba Airlines with three daily flights. The complex includes parking facilities and a trailer park and provides corporate air services including hanger and forklift rental and refuelling. Budget car rental in Escanaba Airport is available.

The small town of Escanaba was originally an Ojibwa village on the Escanaba River and Lake Michigan, and became a port town during the Civil War after settlement by pioneers in the mid 19th century. The port is still important for the shopping of locally-mined iron ore to Chicago and Indiana. The beaches are known for their beauty, and the Hiawatha National Forest is a great day out with car rental in Escanaba Airport.

Several Victorian buildings in town are of interest, including its heritage lighthouse, restored in 1990, and the Luddington House Hotel. For shoppers, the town has a small mall and the inevitable Wal-Mart, and eateries, including an Irish pub, are somewhat basic. Nightlife varies from sparse to non- existent.

Car rentals in Escanaba Airport lets visitors travel around the shores of Lake Michigan, spectacular both in summer and winter. Outdoor pursuits are popular year-round and include fishing, sailing and skiing in winter.
