Location information for Walsall

Walsall is located in the West Midlands and has a population of 170,994. If you are traveling with car rental in Walsall Downtown the region can be reached by heading east from Wolverhampton. Other towns in the surrounding area include Brownhills, Willenhall and Alderidge.

The town is serviced by the A34, A454 and M6, which makes cheap car rental in Walsall Downtown a convenient method of transport. Nearby junctions include the J7, J9 and J10, which have a heavy flow of traffic. There are many attractions in the town including the Walsall Arboretum, which was founded in 1874 by the Hatherton family. After 7 years the state took over ownership and provided free admission to the lakes, tennis court and swimming pool. The Walsall Aboretum Illuminations has been held at this venue since 1951.

The New Art Gallery can be reached with car rental in Walsall Downtown. The gallery was founded in 2000 and work by Jacob Epstein, Van Gough and Renoir are on display. There is a large area available and numerous temporary exhibitions can be seen throughout the year.

For an educational outing go to the Walsall Museum or the Walsall Leather Museum. Walsall Museum offers visitors insight into the region and displays items from manufacturing trades. The leather museum has exhibitions of leather goods and holds workshops.

On Park Street you can see the Sister Dora statue and close to this is a beautiful fountain. For shopping head to the market which has been an important part of the town for years. The original market house was built in 1809 at the end of High Street but was destroyed in 1852. Park Street is now the place to go for shopping.
