Location information for Albufeira

The tourist town of Albufeira lies on the southern coastline of Portugal. Once a little fishing village, the rise of tourism to the country and its beaches has seen its rapid development into a city devoted to mainly summer visitors. The town is divided into two parts, the Old Town and the modern Strip.

The town is located 40kms west of Faro's airport, which hosts seasonal and year-round flights to most European destinations and is easily accessible by cheap car rental in Albufeira downtown. Albufeira is famous as a tourist resort and get very crowded in the summer high season, but its charming Old Town is often much quieter than the Strip and its nearby beaches.

In the older districts, narrow streets lined with picturesque white-painted houses and buzzing with local life are great for a walk or a search on a warm evening for a traditional local eatery. Steamed ultra-fresh locally caught shellfish, rich fish stew and grilled sardines are favourites here, served with the delicious local wines.

 What do I need to do when picking up a car?

To pick up your car, you will need your voucher, passport, driver's license and a credit card. It is very important that your driver's license and credit card are in the same name as the main driver. Keep in mind that the local rental company will reserve a certain amount on your credit card as a deposit. This requires the PIN code for your credit card. If your driver's license is foreign (for example, in Chinese), you must bring a translation with you. Only your original passport and driver's license will be accepted - a copy is not sufficient.

 Are there any additional costs?

Our rates are all-inclusive. Our reservation department will inform you in advance should additional costs apply. You can always cancel your booking free of charge if you do not agree (this must be done at least 48 hours prior to the start of the car hire period).
